CLEANINGS
Our team of hygienists work together to meet your needs and make sure you understand our recommended treatment and options. Dr. Mincy will evaluate your oral health and recommend the frequency needed for check-ups and cleanings. Along with your good at-home care, routine cleanings and exams are key to keeping your teeth and gums healthy and preventing future dental issues.
CROWNS + BRIDGES
Our office provides a variety of crowns. A crown is like a cap that covers a tooth when it is too broken down for a filling. Most crowns are milled in our office through the use of CEREC technology and Dr. Mincy can prepare and seat your actual permanent crown on the same day.
A bridge involves two or more teeth that have a space in between due to a missing tooth. Like crowns, many can be milled in our office and will need only one visit. Dr. Mincy can let you know at the time of your appointment what type of bridge she recommends.
CEREC crowns and bridges provide you with the ultimate in digital dentistry technology. In just one treatment session using CEREC technology, we conserve healthy tooth tissue without a temporary and with outstanding aesthetics. There is no unpleasant impression material, no follow-up appointment and no bothersome temporary prosthesis! No wonder more than 98% of all patients rate the treatment results as “very good” or “good.”
After Dr. Mincy determines whether a crown or bridge is needed, a camera captures the area to be treated, your crown is then created as a 3D model on the computer and subsequently milled from a ceramic block. A while later, your finished ceramic crown or bridge is inserted…all accomplished in just one, single visit.
EXTRACTIONS
From simple extractions to ones that require more of an oral surgery approach, such as wisdom teeth, Dr. Mincy is able to treat most patients in the comfort of the office. She has extensive training and experience in the more complex surgical procedures and strives to provide these services locally with a minimum of stress and discomfort whenever possible. The addition of our new 3-D x-ray machine has increased our ability to diagnoses, treatment plan and provide surgical treatment options in our office. For more complex cases which require surgical procedures, Dr. Mincy has great relationships with local oral surgeons who are dedicated to your comfort and safety. We are happy to provide a referral.
DENTURES
While we are passionate about helping you keep your natural teeth for life, in some cases that isn’t always possible. Whether you need a complete set of dentures or a partial denture, Dr. Mincy is highly skilled in the craft of creating dentures to help improve appearance and functionality. She provides several options for patients who require a denture for the first time or for patients looking to replace previous dentures.
BRACES
While Dr. Mincy’s practice is general dentistry, she is also trained in orthodontic treatment and care. Whether the need is braces or an orthodontic appliance, she has the right option for you. Dr. Mincy has provided braces and other orthodontic treatments to hundreds of patients since 1999.
The first step is an evaluation with x-rays to recommend treatment. From that, she will determine your course of treatment and whether it can be performed in her office or should be referred to an orthodontic specialist. Another option is ClearCorrect, like Invisalign, which appeals to more adults.
PERIODONTIAL DISEASE
Periodontal disease (gum disease) has been linked to an increased risk of many serious health complications. Fortunately with today’s technology and education, Dr. Mincy and her team are able to detect early signs of periodontal disease and help you avoid extensive, invasive treatment. If you are experiencing bleeding gums, loose teeth, bad breath, or receding gums, these are not “normal” aging situations. It’s possible you have inflammation and/or infection present. Please call us and schedule your evaluation with Dr. Mincy. Together, we can restore you to good oral health. Gum disease is treatable and preventable.
If advanced periodontal treatment is necessary, we work with local periodontists to provide you with specialized state-of-the-art care.
SEALANTS
A dental sealant is a thin plastic coating “painted” on the chewing surface of your tooth to help prevent tooth decay. The sealant is clear or tooth-colored and not noticeable. As a preventive measure, Dr. Mincy believes in sealing permanent teeth for children and adults because the fissures or grooves in your teeth make them vulnerable to decay. (There are some cases, though, that Dr. Mincy will place sealants on baby teeth with deep groves or depressions.)
Sealants can be applied by any member of our qualified team, take little time to apply, require no anesthesia, and harden quickly so you can chew right away. Our professional in-office fluoride treatments are still recommended on teeth with sealants, along with your regular brushing and flossing at home.
X-RAYS
X-rays are a valuable diagnostic tool and an essential part of your evaluation to help Dr. Mincy detect any dental issues not visible during the exam. Dr. Mincy is sensitive to your comfort and safety, providing digital imaging. As a new patient, your x-rays will be used to diagnose your treatment plan and also serve as a baseline to help identify any changes that may occur in the future. Our practice now utilized a 3-D imaging machine for your comfort and to save time.
INTRAORAL PHOTOS
As part of her advanced technology, Dr. Mincy uses intraoral photography to allow you to see what she sees in your mouth. What an amazing educational tool this is for you — A picture is worth a thousand words. You no longer have to wonder or try to picture from descriptive verbiage what decay or fractures or bleeding or redness or inflammation looks like. Dr. Mincy can show you your present condition. Intraoral photographs can also show your progression returning to good oral health after your treatment is complete. Our adult patients are strongly impacted by this technology, and the kids love seeing pictures of their teeth!
TOOTH-COLORED FILLINGS
Composite resin fillings, or tooth-colored fillings, are a type of plastic and glass mixture that is used to restore teeth from decay or for cosmetic improvements. Dr. Mincy can blend shades to create a color nearly identical to your natural tooth to fill cavities or fix chips in front teeth. Because it matches your tooth color, no more silver fillings to see when you laugh or smile! Composites bond to your remaining natural tooth to help reinforce the tooth and prevent breakage. With proper routine dental care, they can last a long time before needing maintenance.
ZOOM WHITENING
ZOOM!® is ideal for people with discolored or darkened teeth. Dr. Mincy will determine if you are a candidate for ZOOM!® based on dental history and examination of your teeth. ZOOM!® is a bleaching process that safely lightens discolored teeth. It is quick and easy, and we can complete the process in our office in just over one hour. ZOOM!® produces dramatic results and whitens teeth an average of eight shades. With proper care, your teeth can always remain lighter than they were before. Dr. Mincy will provide you with ZOOM!® Take-Home Gel for occasional touch-ups. For lasting results, you should brush your teeth twice daily and perform regular tooth flossing.
Our office recently acquired the most up-to-date whitening light from Phillips Sonicare. We are excited about the improved results and decreased sensitivity we are getting.
Consults are provided at no charge for anyone considering Zoom!, including new patients.
ROOT CANAL THERAPY
Inside your teeth, under the white enamel and hard layer called the dentin, is a soft tissue called the pulp. The pulp contains blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue. When the pulp becomes inflamed or infected due to deep decay, faulty crowns, crack/chip in the tooth, or trauma, a root canal is necessary. If left untreated, it can be very painful and lead to an abscess.
During root canal therapy, or endodontic treatment, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed. Because accessing the pulp removes a significant amount of tooth structure, the tooth is restored with a crown or filling for protection. After restoration, the tooth continues to function like any other tooth. In some instances and depending on the condition of your tooth, Dr. Mincy may require more than one visit to achieve a healthy, functioning tooth. Complex cases may require referral.
PINHOLE SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY
Pinhole Surgical Technique is a scalpel-free, suture-free procedure for treating gum recession. This procedure is performed by making a small hole with a needle in the gum tissue. Using specially designed instruments, the gum tissue is loosened and guided over the receded part of the tooth. Since there is no incision or suturing, patients can expect minimal post-operative symptoms (pain, swelling and bleeding). Most patients also are pleasantly surprised by the instant cosmetic improvement.
DENTAL IMPLANTS
A dental implant is a Titanium replacement for the root structure of a tooth. Just like the roots of a tooth, the implant is secured in the jawbone and not visible once surgically placed. The implant is used to secure crowns, bridges or dentures for full functionality of chewing and eating and also improve aesthetics by supporting the facial skeleton. Implants are made of Titanium, which is lightweight, strong and biocompatible, meaning it is not rejected by the body. Titanium is used because of its ability to fuse to bone and thus leading to a high success rate.
Implant dentistry requires expertise in planning, surgery and restoration. Upon examination and digital imaging, Dr. Mincy can determine if you are a candidate for dental implants and will discuss with you in detail the options available to your individual situation.
LASER DENTISTRY
Comfort and care of our patients is why Dr. Mincy uses laser dentistry. Dental fears and worries are minimized in children and adults with the use of lasers versus drills. WaterLase is a safe and gentle alternative to traditional dental tools. Using laser and water spray, Waterlase can perform many procedures without a shot or a drill. Since WaterLase does not generate heat, vibration or pressure, many dental procedures can be performed nearly pain-free with fewer shots, less need for anesthesia, and less use of the drill. It can be used for a wide range of hard and soft tissue procedures from decay removal, cavity preparation, root canals, smile design, gum and bone surgical procedures. WaterLase reduces damage to healthy portions of the tooth and minimizes trauma, which conserves more of the precious tooth structure you were born with, helping you to maintain your natural teeth longer! And that is our goal…to help you care for and maintain your natural teeth!
ANESTHESIA
Dr. Mincy uses state-of-the-art digital technology for single tooth anesthesia. The Wand® STA® is essentially a computer-controlled dental injection. The flow rate of the local anesthetic is controlled by a computer. This means that the injection is guaranteed to be slow and steady and therefore comfortable. Most people who have had a bad experience with injections think that needles sting because the skin is pierced, but this is usually not so. Most often, the sting was caused because the anesthetic was injected too quickly. The Wand computer regulates the flow rate and pressure of the anesthesia to create a better experience during the injection.
The Wand is significantly more comfortable than the syringe, it greatly reduces anxiety, and it can eliminate collateral numbness. Our patients are more satisfied and confident that we use the latest technology for their comfort.
